Press Release - GST Filing Extension
Dear Valued Taxpayer
RE: Extension of Filing Deadline for August 2025 General Services Tax (GST) Return
As you are aware, the General Services Tax (GST) came into effect on August 1, 2025. Under the new tax regime, the statutory due date for filing GST returns is the 20th of each month. However, due to a delay in the technical deployment of the electronic filing portal, the Comptroller of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has approved an extension for the August 2025 filing period. Taxpayers now have until September 30, 2025, to submit their GST returns for this period. Please note the following important points:
- This extension applies only to the August 2025 return period.
- All other GST filing and payment deadlines remain unchanged, unless otherwise notified.
- Taxpayers must file electronically through the IRD portal once it becomes available.
- If you experience technical difficulties, please contact the IRD for assistance.
- Taxpayers are encouraged to prepare returns in advance and retain all supporting records to ensure timely submission once the portal is accessible.
Also, taxpayers are reminded that all records must be kept in English and maintained for a period of seven (7) years.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this delay may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to finalise the rollout of the General Services Tax portal.
Sincerely,
Lonnie Hobson (Mr.)
Comptroller, Inland Revenue Department
8 September, 2025
