Press Release - Business Licence Renewal Process

2024 UPDATED Business Licence Renewal Process

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) would like to remind business owners that all business licences are due for renewal on or before 31st January, 2024.

Further to our previous Press Release (Ref: IRD-PR-8-2023) regarding the business licence renewal process, business owners are unable to complete the renewal process via the online portal at this time.

If you are an active business owner, please complete the attached Business Licence Renewal Form and return the application to the Taxpayer Services Unit at the IRD with the supporting documents as requested on the form.

All forms should be submitted and accompanied by the owner or an authorized representative of the establishment or business. Please ensure that the Business Licence Renewal forms are signed by the owner of the business and/or the registered authorized representative(s). Please be advised
that information pertinent to the establishment or business will only be provided to the owner or any registered authorized representatives of the establishment or business.

If a business owner fails to renew their business licence on or before 31st January 2024 and continues to operate without a valid licence, the licence shall not be renewed until the business owner pays the arrears for the period that the business was operating without a licence. A penalty
of 1% of the total arrears shall also be applied.

If your business is no longer in operation, you will be required to complete an Application for Closure Form. Once submitted, a Compliance Officer will review all accounts associated with the business to determine if it meets the requirements for closure. This may also include a site visit to
the business location. Any business that has been closed for a period of three (3) years will be required to submit a new Application for Business to the Ministry of Economic Development, Commerce Unit.

Business owners who have not renewed or have outstanding arrears for previous periods as well as other taxes are required to contact the IRD Compliance and Collection Unit with immediate effect. A Compliance Officer will be available to discuss suitable arrangements to rectify accounts.

The IRD continues to modernize our environment to provide convenient and efficient service to business owners. Through the online portal, you can easily access tax forms, stay up to date with information, manage tax affairs, and file tax returns at their leisure. Business owners who are not
registered on the IRD Online Portal are required to visit www.services.gov.ai to obtain access. We also encourage you to browse our website to learn more about the department and taxes administered. As a courtesy to our customers, we accept payment by Cash, Cheque, Visa or Master Debit and Credit Cards.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the IRD at (264) 497-8334 or e-mail us at inlandrevenue@gov.ai.

Thank you for your usual cooperation and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.
